Nickelodeon sees 20% rankings drop
Viacom Boss Philippe Dauman stated generally steady-eddy kids' cable network Nickelodeon had experienced a very unusual 15%-20% rankings drop in mid-September. The organization is dealing with Nielsen and examining independent set-top box data and, simultaneously, adding fresh animated and live-action programming towards the internet, Dauman stated throughout a business call to go over Viacom's latest quarter generating, that have been strong. He implied it is possible there might have been some measurement error because the set-top box data does not appear to match with Nielsen's figures. "The set-top box information is not showing the information that shows the declines that Nielson is showing," he stated. But he noted the amounts have enhanced in the last a few days. He known as the problem "anomalous" and "a brief-term phenomenon." But he stated it came in a particularly vexing amount of time in early fall when toy companies are searching to market for that holidays. "We must recover it for them and it is not something you are able to recapture," he stated. Nick's worries along with a conditioning of volume within the scatter market might make it tough for the organization to achieve the double digital development in advertising revenue it had aspired to in the present quarter "but it is tough to tell where we'll fall exactly." He noted that Viacom have been able to keep healthy margins, even grow them, through the recent recession. Contact the range newsroom at news@variety.com
